A White October

 I had a delightful surprise when I looked out the front door at about 5:30 on Saturday morning.  Snow! I thought the first picture would be the end of it--that it wouldn't amount to anything more, but an hour later we had this:

By around 1pm, we had really good coverage on the ground, and when it was all over we had maybe about 4 inches of wet, heavy snow. 

My husband was saying that had it been a bit colder we would have even more but since it was so wet, it really packed down hard. 

That was perfect in my opinion, though, because so often snow is too powdery to do anything with.  But not this snow! We did all the wonderful things that one is expected to do on a snow day and we have the piles of wet boots and outerwear to prove it!

I hope those of you in the path of this weird storm enjoyed it as much as we did! :-D

My Stash

So, I wanted to do a picture of my FULL stash for awhile and doing the flats challenge a couple of months back afforded me that opportunity.  Being as busy as I am, I haven't been able to post the pictures til now, which means that I've also acquired a couple more diapers that aren't pictured.  Doh!
Here's my pockets (with one or two AIOs and AI2s):

Bottom row: 2 Knickernappies, 2 Smartipants, 1 Rocky Mountain, 1 Grovia AIO, and 1 Katydid (now called Oh Katy!)
Diaper Junction has also sent me the Best Bottom diaper to film since I took that picture.

Here are my fitteds and my wool (with one fleece cover thrown in):

The above picture is JUST the fitteds.  There are only three that I bought.  The rest I, or a friend made.  The back row is all my T shirt fitteds (for sale in my Etsy shop)
Front row: Happy Heiny's Sherpa fitted, a bamboo fitted flat from a friend, a Bum Covered Diapers fitted, and a bumGenius bamboo fitted.
And here are my fitteds with my wool:

Most of the wool is hand knit, but I did upcycle one cranberry wool sweater into a soaker, a skirtie and some longs.

Here are my prefolds:

The top right is a Hemp babies prefold.  The white ones are Chinese prefolds, and the unbleached ones are Indian, unbleached prefolds.  To some of them, I've added snaps, and to the one on the top right, I added leg elastics so it looks like a fitted when it's on my baby, but dries, folds, sizes like a pre fold :-D.  After taking this picture, I got four more prefolds from Diaper Junction to use for this video: They're sized medium and large, and both bleached and unbleached.

After washing all my flats after the Flats Challenge, I took a photo of them and my PUL covers.

Here they are, five Osocozy unbleached birdseye cotton flat diapers, four flour sack towels from Target, and 12 large Diaper Right unbleached flat diapers from Diaper Junction that are featured in three videos on Diaper Junction's youtube channel.

Finally, here are my PUL covers.  I don't have very many, though now I do have the Best Bottom diaper that can be used for only the cover should I choose to do so.

Top: size 2 Thirsties Duo wrap with aplix, Medium Thirsties wrap, a Green Earth diaper cover (I believe.
Bottom: Bumkins, size medium, Thirsties duo wrap size 2 with snaps, and one of my own diaper covers with PUL and an outer layer of my college T shirt.

I also have the Fluff Stash app now for my iPhone which is a nice way of organizing my stash for my personal reference and for swaps and sales should I choose to use it for that.  Here are a couple of pictures of that.  You should try it out for yourself!

Bunny and the Remote

We don't let Bunny watch too much TV--not even a half hour a day, and we try not to let her watch it every day (unless she's really sick at which point we watch Sesame Street and/or Elmo a good deal) but my husband and I like TV so when she's sleeping, we'll put it on.  This means that when she wakes up she sees us pull the remote out and turn the TV off.  That, and one of the babysitters we had for awhile watched a lot of TV while babysitting Bunny and I didn't have the heart to tell her not to.  Anyway, this has lead to an adorable familiarity with the remote, as evidenced in the following, SUPER cute pictures:

 The best part is the little face she's making, like she's straining with ALL HER MIGHT!

Ah, the lilacs!

You don't know this about me but I have quite a fixation with lilacs.  We had beautiful, huge lilac bushes on either side of my house when I was a little girl and the two or three weeks that they were in bloom I would prance around the yard with armfuls of them pretending I was getting married or someone's flower girl.  In fact, I love lilacs so much that I planned my wedding around them.  I got married during lilac season so I could carry a bouquet of them.  Unfortunately, they bloomed early that year and I ended up with wilted lilacs for my pictures, but I wasn't really focused on my bouquet by that point :-D.

Way up north in Rochester, NY, they have a yearly Lilac Festival that I love going to despite the distance and I tried to go every few years until Bunny came into our lives.  While there I take a plethora of photographs of lilacs and I've started to make a little collection of lilac bushes--four in total now.

When my husband got a new job and we moved--leaving a parsonage for an apartment, my father-in-law graciously agreed to let our lilacs live in his yard for awhile.  We bought a house only a few months before Bunny was born and about a month too late to transplant lilacs.  The spring that followed was crazy busy and included me flat on my back for two or three weeks due to back problems so it just didn't happen.  But this year, finally, I will pine for my lilacs no longer because not only are all four bushes back in our yard where they belong, but now they're so much BIGGER than they were when we first got them and promise to yield lots and LOTS of blooms!!!

We planted them about two weeks ago and Bunny mostly just loved the wheel barrow so I took some pictures:

It's too early for them to bloom yet, but there are some exciting little buds that call to me every day when we go out to play.  I just can't WAIT until they flower and yield the most intoxicating and wonderful aromatic scent that God created on this beautiful earth!
