Bunny and the Remote

We don't let Bunny watch too much TV--not even a half hour a day, and we try not to let her watch it every day (unless she's really sick at which point we watch Sesame Street and/or Elmo a good deal) but my husband and I like TV so when she's sleeping, we'll put it on.  This means that when she wakes up she sees us pull the remote out and turn the TV off.  That, and one of the babysitters we had for awhile watched a lot of TV while babysitting Bunny and I didn't have the heart to tell her not to.  Anyway, this has lead to an adorable familiarity with the remote, as evidenced in the following, SUPER cute pictures:

The best part is the little face she's making, like she's straining with ALL HER MIGHT!

First Braids

I know this is sort of impertinent to the things I typically write about but I just had to share this:

Bunny's first braids! I feel like we just barely got her hair into ponytails and now it's suddenly long enough for braids! This is big news for me, since I'm all about doing baby girls' hair and Bunny took a LONG time to grow hair long enough to play with!  Bunny has mixed feelings about getting her hair done.  On the one hand, she's fascinated by bows, elastics, and hair ties, and on the other hand she doesn't like to sit still long enough for me to do her hair right.  In any case, it doesn't stop her from coming up to me with bows and elastics and asking persistently, "On? Pease?"

I'm thrilled.  She's just so cute anyway, and pigtails simply augment that cuteness factor :-D

Sharing

My poor little family.  I thought we were over the hump when I got better from the virus that racked me last week... and I was proud of myself for transferring my antibodies to my precious Bunny, but alas, it's not over yet! Bunny woke up screaming last night with a 100.5 fever, and my husband has been sick since yesterday.  So today, I took another day off work so I can take care of them.  We'll be returning to the newborn days where all we did was hold Bunny and rock her when the colic was really bad.  I do want her to learn to take naps on her own, but today I'll rock her to sleep and nurse her to sleep and let her sleep in my arms all she wants.  Last night, she slept in our bed for half of the night because with the fever, it was the only way she slept soundly.  It means that I did NOT sleep soundly.  I don't like the idea of sleeping with Bunny because I'm always afraid I'll smush her or she'll smother in the pillows or against me and my husband, but last night I was just really careful, and I held her in my breastfeeding hold (I curl up next to her and she feeds while we both lay down) and slept lightly to allow her to sleep deeply. She's had two doses of infant Tylenol and I think the fever may have broken because she's cool for the first time and also a little sweaty.  I won't know, though til the Tylenol wears off which will be in about 15 minutes.  Oh, my poor little family! I like sharing but this is not what I had in mind...
