Vote for Bunny!

Okay, so Knickernappies is having a photo contest on their Facebook page. Which ever photo is "liked" the most amount of times, wins 6 KN diapers, and five runners up win 1 diaper. I really want to win the 6 diapers. I dont' actually need them, but the girl in my church who I gave some other cloth diapers to, really does. I try to give her cloth diapers every chance I get, but I think she only has about 9 right now so I want to win these and give them to her. I have to admit, that if I won the 6 I would keep 1 and give 5 away. Of course, if Bunny's photo is the runner up, I'd just give her the 1 diaper I would win.

So, would you be so kind as to go over to this facebook page and click "like" under Bunny's photo? It looks like this.  You can find it at this URL:

http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=4350360&l=6bb4098643&id=504941598

Or you can just click here.

And if you have a KN diaper, you should enter yours as well.  Let me know who you are and I'll "like" your photo too! Thanks so much guys, you're awesome!

$15 giveaway from RG Natural Babies--TWO WINNERS!!! (CLOSED)

(only 6 people have entered so far! Your chances to win are still GREAT!)

RG Natural Babies is celebrating their TWO YEAR anniversary this month! To help celebrate, Michelle, the owner of this great store, has decided to give away TWO $15 gift certificates!  That's one gift certificate for each year they've been open.  How generous is that???  In addition you can find lots of other sales and giveaways on the website's home page. So exciting!

I was delighted when I found RG Natural Babies on Diaperpin.com a couple of months ago and discovered that they offer Free Shipping on the things I buy the most. Their selection and service is great so I'm really happy to be able to share them with you through this giveaway.

I wanted to do things a little differently for this giveaway because sometimes I get a little tired of doing the same thing to try to win freebies at other people's giveaways and I wonder if people feel the same way about mine.  So, instead of the normal barrage of comments, you will enter ONE comment.  One LARGE comment because you will be doing a scavenger hunt type quiz!

I've grabbed a couple of thumbnails of some of the items that Michelle sells over at her website, and cropped them.  Your job is to try to figure out what each item is by searching through her website.  In addition, I will be asking you some questions reguarding her website that you will also answer.

Details:
* You must be a follower of my blog to be eligible.
* You should identify each picture as completely as possible.
* You should answer each question as completely as possible.
*Your entry will count two times if you order from RG Natural Babies during this giveaway and include the order number in your quiz, or in a separate comment. It will count three times (in other words, be entered three times) if you spread the word via facebook, twitter, or your blog and include the URL. There is no need to do an extra comment for each of these, but you may if you need to.
*  The winners will be chosen as follows:
1 Gift Certificate goes to the first person to get all the answers correct, and who answers the questions the most completely
1 Gift Certificate goes to a winner picked at random from the rest of the "quizzes" that were answered correctly.
* This contest will run from today until April 30th.

New Wool Yarn

After successfully finishing my first two wool soakers, I was eager to get more yarn and make more.  My first couple of skeins of yarn were bought at Michaels for $4.99 apiece.  I figured I would stop by A C Moore to see what their selection was like.  They had many more colors, but they cost $5.99.  I bought two, because I knew I wanted different colors from what I'd seen at Michaels.  But then I stopped by Michael's anyway because I had seen some yarns there on sale for $2.49.  I grabbed four skeins and went up to the register to pay for them, expecting the total to be around $10.  It rang up to $2.08.  Being the honest type of person that I am, I let the cashier know that the total was incorrect.
"No ma'am, "he replied, "They're on sale for $.49."
"Well, then can you hold on a minute?" I asked?
I raced back to the aisle and grabbed a couple more of each color giving me a total of 13 skeins.  It rang up for just a little over $10.

I can't tell you how happy I was to grab such a good deal!  Talk about being in the right place at the right time! They're not necessarily my first choice of colors, but that's okay with me!

Meet Saskia

Saskia writes one of my all time favorite blogs.  As soon as I see that she has updated, I quickly scoot over there to see what she's said.  I think I like her blog so much because it's so real, down to earth, and raw.  She kindly opens a window into her world and I feel very refreshed every time I go over there to visit.

Saskia has an Etsy shop where she sells the most adorable Waldorf Inspired Dolls.  She is also selling some adorable baby shoes.  I haven't tried those shoes, but you can check out this blog for a review of them!  I've wanted to get something from her shop for awhile, but it just didn't fit into my budget.  So I was delighted when I won one of her cute little dolls--well two, actually-- from the Nifty Nappy blog!

I really hoped that the dolls would arrive before Easter because I wanted to add them to Bunny's first Easter Basket, so when they came last Saturday, I was delighted!!!

Okay, so I couldn't wait to give her the doll until Easter, so I let her have it as soon as I tore the package opened.
She, of course, decided that the best way to enjoy the doll would be to experience it in her mouth!
\
It's SO soft, and just the perfect size for her tiny hands! She loves it!
The Waldorf inspired doll also came with a "root baby,"  a tiny, baby Waldorf inspired doll.  It is really a bit too tiny for her yet (Saskia even warned me so on her business card), but I let her play with it anyway under my watchful eye.

That, too, went right to her mouth! Right now, her mouth is the vehicle through which she discovers the world!

The root baby really is very tiny and adorable.

She's so excited about the doll! I love the movement in this picture!
I love the tiny features of her face.  Well, I love the features of Bunny's face, of course, but I was referring specifically to the doll :-D. It's so soft and delicate--perfect for tiny fingers to explore.

Even though I'd already given it to her, I added it to her Easter basket on Sunday.

She had brought it to church that morning and played with it in the nursery during both services.

I think you'd love these dolls too if you could just get your hand on one.  She has dolls from as small as 5 inches up to 8 inches--and of course the tiny root babies :-D Go check them out and support a WAHM while you're at it! You won't be sorry! They're SO adorable!!!

Disclaimer:
This post is wholly my opinion and I was not compensated in any way for this review.  I just love Saskia and her dolls!

Some new wool soakers and a matching headband

I wanted Bunny to have a headband to match her wool soakers.  Since I now know how to use circular, double pointed needles, I just knit a circle for the band.  I used the same pattern used for the ruffles on her chartreuse soaker to make the rose, and I used increasing and decreasing stitches to make the leaf.  It wasn't that hard to figure out once I knew the stitches, which I learned from my dear friend while making the soaker.

She's such a pretty little baby model!

Kisses with Mommy before I have to leave to teach for the morning.

I made another soaker with the same pattern as my chartreuse one and adjusted the legs so they were roomier.  Then, instead of ruffles, I added hearts with a chain stitch (I found a tutorial for it online.  I know how to do it in embroidery, but I wasn't sure how to do embroidery on knit.  It also wasn't hard!)
Man, she's so beautiful!

This is a third soaker I made with a completely different pattern.  It was much easier, but I didn't ask for help finishing it, so I think there's a better (well, prettier) way to do it.  Basically, it's a triangle.  You bring up the bottom and attach it to the top and sides.  It's roomy and works very well for prefolds pinned or snappi-ed together.

I put the tie in the back because she's at the stage where she'd pull it out if it were in the front.

I'm not too pleased with the front.  I counted the stitches ABSOLUTELY wrong and didn't match up the stripes the way I had wanted to.  But it fits and works very well, so I guess how it looks isn't really an issue since it's functional.

I can't wait to make my next one! My back went out (this happens once every 1-2 years) so knitting is a way to keep busy while flat on my back.  Well, I'm not always flat on my back, since I have to take care of Bunny despite how I feel. If you think of it, please pray for me. I feel like half a person/mom because i'm unable to do my house chores appropriately and unable to take care of my baby like I want to.  But God is good.  He will heal me.  He always has.
